Mahesh Bhatt Brings Both Begum Jaans Together - Vidya Balan & Rituparna Sengupta
Ace filmmaker, Mahesh Bhatt, brought Vidya & Rituparna together for an event held in Kolkata
Mahesh Bhatt was yesterday in Kolkata, and he managed to bring the leads of both the Begum Jaan films under the same roof. While Rituparna Sengupta played the character of Begum Jaan in the original Bengali film, Rajkahini (2015), Vidya Balan is reprising the role in the Bollywood remake titled Begum Jaan. For those who’ve come in late, director Srijit Mukherji wanted to make a bilingual simultaneously with Rituparna playing the lead in Bengali and Vidya playing the lead in Hindi. However, because of Vidya's prior commitments, she couldn't shoot for the film then. Srijit couldn't wait, and decided to make the movie in Bengali first. A couple of years later, Mahesh Bhatt who saw Rajkahini and felt it had a lot of potential for the Hindi audiences.
Rajkahini got lots of acclaim from critics and fans when it released. Hopefully, the Hindi version of the film will also be received equally well. Begum Jaan hits theatres on April 14.
