Actress Gita Siddharth Kak best known for her role in the classic movie Garam Hava, left for heavenly abode on December 14. She is survived by her husband Siddharth Kak and daughter Antara Kak. The reason of her death is still unknown. Marking her silver screen debut with Gulzar’s film Parichay in the year 1972, she was a known actress in the 70s and 80s in the cinematic world. The actress stepped into Bollywood and shared screen space with Jeetendra and Jaya Bachchan, post which she starred in some of the biggest hits of that era.
Her movie Garam Hava helmed by M.S. Sathyu had bagged a National Award as Best Feature Film and she was honoured with a souvenir for her portrayal of Amina in the flick. She later also went on to star in movies like Sholay, Trishul, Disco Dancer, Doosra Aadmi, Arth, Mandi, Shaukeen, Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki, Gaman and many more. Along with being an artiste, she was also a social activist, lending her support to many social activities. Gita was married to producer and TV host, documentary filmmaker Siddharth Kak. Siddharth was known for his TV culture magazine Surabhi. This show was aired on TV from 1990 to 2001 on the national TV channel Doordarshan. Gita worked on this show in the capacity of an art director.
