Neena Gupta Opens On Pay Disparity; Urges People To Raise Their Voice And Be Intelligent Enough That It Doesn’t Backfire
Neena Gupta has been in the news after she launched her memoir, Sach Kahun Toh, in the current times she is the only senior actress who has revived her career in the most brilliant manner. Though it took a lot of time to become filmmakers’ favourite, after Badhaai Ho there was no looking back for the actress. Known for being vocal and standing firm by her decision has been a praiseworthy element right from the beginning of her career.

In conversation with Etimes, she spoke about pay disparity and why being vocal about it makes sense. On being asked about her opinion on pay disparity she said, “I think if you feel that something is wrong, you must raise your voice. And also to raise your voice, you have to have standing. When you know that you have reached a particular status quo in your career, so you can ask. Any other actress who has just started, she won't ask now. People who are established who are stars, they will ask, they should ask, why not? They know their value. They know people want to see them, so they ask for it.”

When quizzed if getting such topics to notice will bring in change, she states until and unless you are confident about yourself and intelligent enough that it won’t backfire on you.

She said, “I'm telling you now you cannot raise your voice unless you are confident that your voice is heard. If I'm working in an office, and if I raise my voice about something, they will throw me out. Then I won't raise my voice because I need that money, I need that salary. So, you have to be in a position, you should be intelligent enough to be in a position that if you raise your voice they won’t throw you out, otherwise it's stupidity.” ALSO READ: Satish Kaushik Reacts To Neena Gupta's BIG Revelation About His Marriage Proposal During Her Pregnancy, Says, 'It Was An Expression Of My Affection For Her As A Friend'
