While the reason for the murder is not known yet, it is being suspected to be a case of honour killing. Qandeel’s brother was reportedly threatening her over her Facebook posts and videos.

The 26-year-old was known for her bold pictures and videos on social media – she had promised to strip during the International T20 World Cup if Pakistan would win against India.
A few days ago, a man claiming to be Qandeel’s husband appeared on television and even claimed that he had a child with her. The social media celebrity confirmed the news, saying that she was forced into marriage with him.

Recently, Qandeel had also written to the Interior Minister and the Director General of the Federal Investigation Authority, requesting them to provide her with security. She had stated that she had received threatening calls and that her life was in danger.
