Paresh Rawal Summoned By Kolkata Police Over His Controversial ‘Cook Fish For Bengalis’ Remark After CPI Leader Files A Complaint Against Him
Veteran actor Paresh Rawal recently received severe backlash on social media for his controversial remark ‘cook fish for Bengalis’. Speaking at the campaign in Gujarat, the actor had said, “But what will happen if Rohingya migrants and Bangladeshis start living around you, like in Delhi? What will you do with gas cylinders? Cook fish for the Bengalis?” This statement of him did not go down well with netizens who alleged he has hurt the sentiments of people. As per the latest report, Paresh has been summoned by Kolkata Police for his comment.

As reported by ANI, the Sanju actor has been asked to appear at the Taltala Police Station on December 12 over the matter. This comes after CPI (M) leader Mohammad Salim filed a police complaint against the actor. Rawal during his campaign speech had said, “Gas cylinders are expensive, but their price will come down. People will get employment too. But what will happen if Rohingya migrants and Bangladeshis start living around you, like in Delhi? What will you do with gas cylinders? Cook fish for the Bengalis?" Following criticism over his remark, the 67-year-old actor took to Twitter to apologize for hurting people’s sentiments. Paresh wrote, “Of course, the fish is not the issue as Gujaratis do cook and eat fish. But let me clarify by Bengali I meant illegal Bangladeshi N Rohingya. But still, if I have hurt your feelings and sentiments I do apologise.”

On the professional front, Rawal has many exciting projects such as Kartik Aaryan starrer Shehzada, Dream Girl 2 with Ayushmann Khurrana and Hera Pheri 3 in the lineup. He was last seen in Hitesh Bhatia’s directorial Sharmaji Namkeen where he had replaced the late actor Rishi Kapoor.
