Bollywood superstars Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar’s ancestral homes in Peshawar have been grabbing headlines for a long time now. Earlier, in February, it was reported that the owner of Dilip Kumar’s ancestral house has demanded Rs 25 crore for the property. As per the reports, the owner of Raj Kapoor’s ancestral haveli demanded Rs 200 crore. Now, after the owners of the house demanded exorbitantly higher prices due to the property value, according to a report in IndiaTV, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government of Pakistan has enacted a new law to buy the houses.

The report mentioned that the KP government has started the legal process to buy the ancestral homes of Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar, situated in Peshawar. As per the report, the KP government has enacted a needed section of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894 of the state which allows the government authorities to take possession of both the houses on an emergency basis. The report stated that the amount of both Havelis will be released soon to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Peshawar to make the necessary payments to the landowners.

According to the report, the Archeological Department of Pakistan has fixed the prize of Rs 80.56 lakh (USD 50,517) for Dilip Kumar’s four marlas (101 square metres) home, whereas, Raj Kapoor's six marla house (151.75 square metres) is fixed at Rs 1.50 crore (USD 94,061).


Meanwhile, Raj Kapoor’s ancestral home, known as Kapoor Haveli is situated in the Qissa Khwani Bazar. The haveli was built during 1918 and 1922 by the actor’s father Prithvi Raj Kapoor. The two homes of Dilip Kumar and Raj Kapoor are located near the 2000-year-old market. Reportedly, Shah Rukh Khan’s ancestral home is also situated somewhere close. However, his paternal family still live there.
