Rakesh Roshan: Cinema Owners Ditched Me On Kaabil, This Is So Unfair!

The day for the BIG box-office clash is here! Kaabil vs Raees fight was standing on an equal ground UNTIL this morning! A sudden turnaround in the no. of shows between the two films has left Rakesh Roshan flabbergasted.Well yes, this morning Rakesh Roshan woke up to shocking news when he learnt that the shows between Raees and Kaabil have not been distributed equally. Kaabil has got only 40-45 percent of shows as compared to Raees.

When we called Rakesh Roshan to understand the matter in depth, he sounded very disappointed and said, “What has happened with my film is extremely unfair. When such clashes take place, the ball is always in the exhibitor’s court. They are the ones who can decide the fate of the films by being fair to both. When the entire world-UK, USA, Australia has divided the show equally, why couldn’t we do the same? It’s a shame! It’s very sad that they succumbed to pressure, that too for a film which is releasing in March (Read Bahubali). These people are powerful but they are using the power in the wrong direction.”

Rakesh Roshan adds that Kaabil’s first day collections will be low because of this unfair decision. He says, “I know Kaabil will register low collections on the first day and I am speaking while my shows are running in theatres, not after or before the success or failure of my film. This is totally uncalled for. There will definitely be a 20 percent difference between the collections of both films.”

When asked how this sudden turnaround happened from the exhibitors’ side, Rakesh said, “Exhibitors shook hands with me for 50-50 & turned around this morning.”

With anger in his voice, Rakesh Roshan further added, “I will QUIT films if such unfair practices continue. I am here to take the industry forward and I have always done that through my films. Why are these so-called ‘big players’ not moving forward?”

Rakesh Roshan also spoke about the lack of unity among the exhibitors, “If all the exhibitors come together and say that they will not release the film (Read Bahubali) then the producer of the film will bow down in front of them. The exhibitors don’t have to succumb to such pressures if they are united.”

Concluding on how Hrithik has reacted to this development, Rakesh said, “I am speaking as a producer of the film, Hrithik is not involved in this. He has done fantastic work in Kaabil and should relax now.”

However, here's what Hrithik tweeted, in support of his father:
