He then produced and signed a bail bond of Rs. 20,000. "It is a routine procedure of the court and every accused is required to appear before the appellate court once. We have also followed the procedure," Mr Khan's advocate Hastimal Saraswat told the media. The next hearing is scheduled to happen on October 5.

The matter was heard by the court on April 21 when the court directed Salman to file a bail bond. He was also asked to appear on July 6. However, the superstar failed to appear before the court due to the security reasons.

The police had filed the case against Khan in October 1998 for possessing and using unlicensed .22 rifle and .32 US-made revolver and using them for allegedly killing three Chinkaras in Jodhpur’s Kankani village earlier that year. He was shooting for Sooraj Barjatya’s Hum Saath Saath Hain.

The Rajasthan High Court in July last year acquitted him in the case related to the poaching of a blackbuck and three Chinkaras. However, the case related to possession of weapons with an expired license is still under trial.
