Shah Rukh's RA.One Animator Charu Khandal Dies At 32
Tragedy strikes. A young life Charu Khandal, whose team won a National Award for their animation work in SRK starrer RA.One, has been snuffed out
On March 25, 2012, Charu Khandal, her sister Ritu, and friend Vikrant Goel were travelling in a rickshaw when a speeding Honda City rammed into their vehicle in Oshiwara (Andheri). The trio was out to celebrate the National Award won by Charu's team for the special effects for Shah Rukh's superhero film RA.One.The young animator suffered serious and multiple injuries to her head and spine and was left paralysed.

The car driver, identified as Manoj Netrapal alias Gautam, 39 (then), was drunk, according to the police. Having suffered multiple fractures and injuries to her spinal cord in the accident, Charu spent 92 days at Kokilaben Hospital (40 days in the ICU) but not before she had undergone long surgeries and was even strapped to tubes and several medical contraptions to remain alive.
After the accident, she could barely move any of her body parts except her neck and wrists till date.
Yesterday, she breathed her last. Charu was 32.
A friend of Charu told SpotboyE.com last night, "I spoke to Charu only two weeks back. She fought her condition very bravely for 4 years."
Explaining what happened to Charu recently, the friend said, "She had high fever, it was just viral. But she couldn't fight it out because her immunity levels had gone drastically down after the accident, and they hardly rose after that."
Charu's dad, a private tutor in Jaipur, is the sole bread-winner of the family. He had to take a loan of over Rs 12 lakh for his daughter's treatment. It was not easy for Charu's kith and kin to foot her medical bills.
Shah Rukh had always been a big help to them. Charu was not an employee of Shah Rukh's Red Chillies Entertainment, yet he ensured that her medical bills were adequately covered.
The Khandals had moved back to Jaipur sometime back.
