Legendary actor Dilip Kumar passed away in the early hours of Wednesday. He is survived by his wife Saira Banu. As the nation mourns the loss of the actor, we got in touch with renowned fimmaker Subhash Ghai, who worked with the legendary actor in three prominent films towards the end of his illustrious film career, namely, Saudagar, Vidhaata and Karma. 

Ghai was rushing back from Lonavala, where he was shooting, to meet with the late actor's family and participate in the final rites.  Also read: Veteran Actor Dilip Kumar Passes Away At 98 Due To Prolonged Illness

Recalling his first meeting with Dilip sahab, Ghai said that he met him for the first time to narrate the story of the popular film 'Krodhi' and he instantly liked the script and accepted the offer. They again met each other to discuss the film 'Vidhaata' after six months. Furthermore, he added that his dignity as an actor and maturity as a person to not judge anybody is something that made him respect him and stay in awe of him, long after the legendary star stopped signing films.

He further described him as someone who was always cool and had complete faith in him. Given that they worked together in Vidhaata, Karma and Saudagar, Subhash Ghai also added that he will miss working with the legend. The filmmaker also added that he will miss his genuine smile the most.

Recalling the time they were shooting for Saudagar, Subhash Ghai said, "During the shooting of Saudagar, Dilip Kumar saab told me to focus more on his co-star Raaj Kumar to make a good film." 

Several prominent personalities arrived at the actor's residence to meet Saira Banu. Subhash Ghai, who was shooting in Lonavala, also marked his presence at the late actor's home and will participate in the final rites. For the uninitiated, the legendary actor's last rites will be performed in Mumbai at 5pm. He will be cremated at the Juhu Kabrastan in Santacruz (W).
