Sushant Singh Rajput and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Chhichhore bagged the award for the Best Hindi Feature Film at the 67th National Film Awards that were announced yesterday. Chhichhore, helmed by Nitesh Tiwari, also starred Varun Sharma, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Naveen Polishetty, Tushar Pandey and Saharsh Kumar Shukla in pivotal roles. This was Sushant’s last film on the big screen before his death on June 14, 2020. Now, as the film won the prestigious award, Varun Sharma has dedicated the win to the late actor.
Sushant had played the role of Aniruddh in the film, while Varun Sharma played Gurmeet 'Sexa' Singh Dhillon, a senior of Aniruddh’s, in Chhichhore. Varun Sharma took to his social media account and shared a picture announcing the film’s win at the National Film Awards. He also wrote that the film is a special one for them and is very close to their hearts. Further, he dedicated the award to late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. "A Film which is truly special to all of us. A Film which is very close to our Hearts. This one is for you Kammo #SSR," he wrote, followed by a red heart emoji.
Fans turned emotional as they remembered Sushant, and while one fan commented, “Kammo is always in our hearts,” another social media user wrote, “TRIBUTE TO #SSR.” Take a look at his tweet below:
After the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, Varun Sharma was heartbroken, and he took to his Instagram to share a still from Chhichhore featuring him and Sushant. “Speechless,” Varun had written, along with a heartbreak emoji.
