Tahira Kashyap Trolled For Sitting On Buddha Statue; Apologises For ‘Offending Religious Sentiments’
Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana’s wife and writer Tahira Kashyap, who was detected with breast cancer last year, recently posted a series of pictures from a wellness resort on social media. Amongst all those pictures, Tahira’s one photo caught netizens’ attention. The particular picture in the series has Tahira sitting on the giant statue of Buddha. Soon after receiving backlash, Tahira commented on her post and apologised to those who were offended by her picture. Her comment read, “I apologise if I have offended anybody, but I myself am a Nicherin’s Buddhism practitioner and I felt embraced in the lap of Buddha. Every religion, every philosophy is about love. A guy gave her a piece of his mind and said, “Firstly, there is not just one school of Buddhism. For some, Shakyamuni Buddha is the king of humanism. He has always employed different parables to demonstrate to his disciples the essential spirit of Buddhism which is to be compassionate towards others, relieve suffering and bringing joy and it has always taken precedence over abstract theories. What I see in this picture, is a child of Buddha who from the very depths of her life is trying to live in the Buddhist order which is to live with an unwavering spirit of love and compassion.”
