Vicky Kaushal’s Star‘Dum’: Takht Role Will Be Rewritten To Give Equal Screenspace As Ranveer Singh?
Vicky Kaushal is the talk of the town. Be it his next Udham Singh, rumours of his love affair with B-Town actresses or him enjoying the female attention, Kaushal has made a place for himself in Bollywood. Riding high on the success of Aditya Dhar’s Uri: The Surgical Strike, which got him so much accolades, overnight, Vicky is gearing for a few more projects like Karan Johar’s magnum opus, Takht. But looks like Vicky’s Uri success, has got filmmaker Karan Johar do several changes in his character of Aurangzeb in Takht.

As per a report in Mumbai Mirror, keeping Vicky’s recent success and popularity in mind, KJo has rewritten Kaushal’s role as king Aurangzeb, which is going to be equal to Ranveer Singh’s role of Shahjahan’s son Dara Shikon. The Mirror report reads, “We hear the filmmaker has gone back to the drawing board and has rewritten Kaushal’s role in his upcoming film Takht to equal Ranveer Singh’s role.”

Earlier, talking about the difficulties for shooting Takht, Vicky Kaushal had told Rajeev Masand, “It's going to be a character that’s really going to demand a lot from me and that's what you live for as an actor to see life from a different perspective. It becomes very difficult to not judge that character, that's the hardest part to crack, changing your physicality, your language, this, that - you work towards it but mentally to just not judge the character and his actions and intentions and take him as he is and totally believe in it and to say that to yourself that "No, this is right". That's the trick and that's where you want to reach.”

When Karan Johar was asked about the characters in film, he had told Indian Express, “It’s something that I’ve always chased and wanted to kind of put up there and finally when Sumit Roy, the writer, came to me with the story of Dara and Aurangzeb, which is pretty much the first time I’m saying that what Takht is about. I think it is that part of history that I’m so passionate about. I can’t wait to get into the prep mode which I’ve already started off.”

Apart from Vicky and Ranveer, Takht has an ensemble cast of Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Anil Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar, and will go on floors this November.
