Shabana Azmi’s Mijwan Fashion Show was a star-studded
affair. Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma sashayed down the ramp and promoted
the local handicraft of Mijwan with clothes designed by ace designer Manish
Malhotra. While Manish’s close circle of friends were present to cheer him up,
one man was conspicuous by his absence – Karan Johar. Karan Johar was at the
prestigious London School of Economics attending a session.
But it was also a day that coincided with Karan’s biggest
day in his life. While he must have rejoiced sitting in the close comfort of
his hotel room in London reading and attending calls over becoming dad to
twins, it must have also saddened him to see his closest friends in the company
of his arch rival, Kajol. Karan’s absence from the fashion show was also a
blessing in disguise as Kajol attended the do. She was seated in the front row
along with Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhtar.
Here’s the real story. Shah Rukh Khan hugged Kajol during
the show and after it got over the actress also interacted and chatted with
another close confidant from Karan’s coterie, Niranjan Iyengar. The very two
sights must have infuriated Karan to no extent.

Karan in his autobiography ‘An Unsuitable Boy’, has clearly
mentioned that the two people extremely close to him are designer Manish
Malhotra and writer Niranjan Iyengar while Shah Rukh Khan is like a member of
his own family. In the chapter titled ‘Friends and Fallouts’ he has
categorically mentioned that any possibility of a patch up with Kajol in the
future is ruled out and whenever Manish and Niranjan (who still are close to
Kajol) talk about Kajol to him, he is filled with anger.
“It hurts me that she’s still close to people I’m really
close to, like Manish and Niranjan. Somehow I wish she wasn’t. When they talk
about her, it angers me. I know it’s not fair for me to impose my feelings on
them but it bothers me,” says Karan in his autobiography.
Karan, in his book, has also mentioned that Kajol does not
deserve him at all and he feels nothing for her any more as she has killed
every bit of emotion he had for her for 25 years. “No matter what happens, I’m
never going to be there for her,” thunders Karan.
We only hope Karan does not see these pictures from the
evening.
