Bollywood director Imtiaz Ali is currently over the moon after the successful release of his biographical film Amar Singh Chimkila. Based on the life of the late Punjabi musician, the film was released on Netflix. Starring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra in lead roles, netizens immediately took to social media handles to heap praises on the film. Now, weeks after the release of the film, the filmmaker opened up about one of the improvised scenes which left the singer blushing.

Opening up about the improvised scene where old women objectify men with vulgar terms before the song ‘Naram Kalja,’ Imitiaz revealed that the original plan was for Chamkila and Amarjot to pass by the women as they leave the house. However, the elderly women proceed to highly improvise the scene while discussing Chamkila’s controversial lyrics. Instead of cutting the scene, he decided to go with the flow of the sequences. Talking about how the improvised scene left Diljit red in the face, quoted by the Free Press Journal, the 52-year-old filmmaker shared, “When that shot finally cut, by that time all kinds of things had been said by these old women, Diljit’s face was red. He turned and said, ‘Baap re baap, inn logon ne kaise baatein boldi.’ They say very, very vulgar songs during festivities. You must have heard these traditional songs being sung in many, many cultures of our country, in small villages during marriages. They’re very vulgar songs. So, I feel, in some way, what had happened also is that to objectify men happens in these songs.” ALSO READ: WHAT? For the unversed, the Imtiaz Ali directorial was released on Netflix on 12th April 2024. Co-starring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra, the movie is a biographical film based on the life of late musician Amar Singh Chamkila, who was brutally killed at a young age because of his thought-provoking songs and lyrics. Fans have been showering the cast and the crew of the movie with love and adoration on social media.
