WHAT! Hansal Mehta SLAMS Kangana Ranaut, Says Working With Her Was A ‘Massive Mistake’; Filmmaker Calls Her ‘Self-Centered’
Filmmaker Hansal Mehta has opened up about working with Kangana Ranaut in his 2017-directed film ‘Simran’ which was a disaster at the box office. Hansal made some shocking statements as he asserted that working with the actress was his ‘massive mistake’. Not just that, Hansal also stated that Ranaut has become too ‘self-centered’ and that she has limited herself by making films only about herself. However, the acclaimed director also pointed out that Kangana is a ‘talented’ actress.

Speaking with Mashable India, Hansal, when asked about the Queen actress taking over the edit work of the film, said, "Edit nahi takeover kia the usne, to be fair to her, but edit takeover karne ke liye kuch tha nahi kyunki material hi vahi tha jo usne shoot karvaya tha.” He added, “She is a very talented actor, she is a very good actor, really really good actor who, I feel has limited herself by making films about herself. You need not make all the characters become what you want to believe you are.” ALSO READ: Kangana Ranaut-Javed Akhtar Defamation CASE: Actress To Appear Before Court On July 4, Demands No Media Be Present When She Records Her Statement-Report

Further, Hansal gave an example of Kangana’s recent release Dhaakad and mentioned that in one of the songs she was only talking about herself. “Abhi kuch gaana aaya uska… she is a woman on fire… you are basically talking about yourself. You know these are things you aspire for yourself, you put it there. It’s not even my place to criticise what choices she makes. She’s a big star, even today and she is a very good actor, I maintain that and working with her, we didn’t gel. Working with her was a massive mistake,” Hansal Mehta further added.

Earlier, Apurva Asrani, the writer of Simran had lashed out at Ranaut for controlling the creative call on the film. Hitting back at him, the Tanu Weds Manu actress called Apurva 'spineless' and 'coward. Hansal Mehta reportedly quit the film midway following creative issues with the actress.
