Anushka Sharma had a savage response to a journalist asking about beautiful girls wearing provocative clothes to sell films
Entertainment journalists are known to put their foot in their mouth when they interview celebrities during movie promotions. It is often seen that reporters ask controversial and awkward questions to actors in order to get a good quote. However, being experienced actors, they know how dodge such statements and put their point across.
Anushka Sharma, who is known to be blunt in such situations, had shut down a reporter. During the promotions for her film Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, a reporter had questioned the scene of her getting out of the pond in a white shirt and shorts. The scene was heavily promoted and was also featured on the posters. In an interview with CNBC, in 2013, a journalist had asked her, “You are wearing tiny clothes, shorts in a place where you were to go really, you wouldn’t dress like that. Is this the filmmaker and his vision or is it just the Hindi movies (believing that) ‘beautiful girl sells the films’?”
Anushka had responded to the question by stating that movie was helmed by Vishal Bharadwaj, who would never use such tactics to sell his movie. She went on talk about how wearing weird clothes and getting a tattoo was the main crux of her character Bijli. ALSO READ: HOUSE TOUR! She said, “That is the character, it’s just the way she is and dresses. It is all a loud cry saying ‘look at me’ because she is a neglected child. When Vishal Bhardwaj told me about the character, he told me that she will always look like she does not belong to this world. And I have never worked with such people who have to use such tactics to sell their film.”
On the work front, the actress was last seen in a cameo in Qala. She will be next seen in Chakda Xpress.
