When Neeraj Vora Fell To A Brain Stroke In Delhi, The Ambulance Never Came!

This morning we brought to you the heart-rending story of Phir Hera Pheri director Neeraj Vora being critically ill in Delhi and showing little to no signs of recovery (Phir Hera Pheri Director Neeraj Vora CRITICALLY ILL, Jan 11) . Since then, we have been flooded with calls from people enquiring about what exactly happened. Eager to get into the depth of the incident, we called up a senior filmmaker who spilled the beans on the condition of anonymity. However, the incident that follows might leave you teary eyed.

Location: New Delhi
In October last year Neeraj was travelling with close friend and actor Paresh Rawal’s driver. As the two got talking, Neeraj happened to tell him (the driver) that he hasn’t been feeling well for a few days now and sometimes experiences numbness. The continued talking when, suddenly, his condition deteriorated and he asked the driver to call for an ambulance.

The panic-stricken driver immediately called for one but it NEVER arrived. In the meanwhile, Neeraj collapsed. Realising that things could get out of hand and with no sight of the ambulance, the driver, along with a few passersby, took him to the well-known Ram Monohar Lohia Hospital. Once there, the doctors at the hospital revealed that it’s a stroke and Neeraj should be shifted to AIIMS for further treatment.

However, by the time the filmmaker was taken to AIIMS his condition had deteriorated further.

As things stand now, he is still very critical. He responds by opening one eye when someone taps/calls him, which is a glimmer of hope for all his well wishers. Doctors at the hospital say that the recovery is minor and ‘it’s going to be a long haul’.

Further, there were reports that his family and the film fraternity have abandoned him during this period, but, SpotboyE.com can tell you that there is no truth to it. Neeraj’s wife passed away in 2004 and his mother died soon after. The filmmaker has no children either. To talk of the film fraternity, apart from producer Firoz Nadiadwala, Aamir Khan too has visited him not once but twice in the recent past and has extended moral support. Dear friend Paresh, being an influential politician, has also been of great help.

However, all said and done, Neeraj is very much critically unwell.
