And the audience’s lukewarm response to this pairing has reportedly started worrying the actress’s parents. Mr and Mrs Gautam seemed happy with the relationship just a few months ago and had sent sweets to Pulkit’s home to mark his separation from his wife (Yami’s parents sent sweets to Pulkit’s house when he cut off ties with wife Shweta!, July 13). But the tides have turned and now they believe that the slump in the dainty damsel’s fortunes is a direct result of her much-talked about affair with Pulkit. Yami and Pulkit had signed a three-film deal with T-Series and both their
outings Junooniyat and Sanam Re tanked on the boxoffice (Junooniyat’s failure drives Pulkit to break hotel furniture; Frustration at its Worst, Yami was again round the corner, Jun 27). And that has led the
production house to cancel the third starring vehicle planned with Yami and
Pulkit in the lead, said sources close to the development.
And now sources close to the pair say that Yami’s parents have decided to intervene in order to bring her focus back on her filmi career. And Pulkit has not taken kindly to the sermonising.
Acoording to a source, Yami’s parents told her in no uncertain terms that Pulkit’s career has remained unaffected by the brouhaha surrounding their relationship as he has been signed on for Fukrey 2. They told Yami that she on the other hand has been badly affected by the canned T-Series deal.
“Yami’s parents are unhappy about the constant talks about her alleged affair with Pulkit. They do not want Yami’s work to be overshadowed by the constant gossip.”
The source adds, “They have already let her know about their discontentment as they beleive that Yami’s film was canned due the media glare surrounding her relationship.They want her to concentrate on her work and keep a lid on her personal life.”
So will the young romance survive the dual blow of parental interference and box office flops? Only time will tell whether Yami will choose Pulkit’s love over her parents’ advice.
