Here’s Why Spiderman Star Tom Holland Is Being Threatened With Boycott In India
Spiderman star Tom Holland is facing backlash in India and #boycottspiderman is trending on social media, for no fault of the actor. Read on to find out why!
For no fault of his, Spiderman star, 24-year old Tom Holland is facing an unforeseen backlash in India for making a comment on India’s prime minister Narendra Modi, when in fact Holland didn’t make the statement at all. Yup, they’ve got the wrong Tom Holland.
The offensive sarcastic tweet by a British historian Tom Holland read, “I'm a huge admirer of the modesty Modi showed in naming the world's largest cricket stadium after himself.” He further made another tweet in which he wrote, “Not always a good sign for countries when leaders start pulling that trick...” In no time at all #boycottspiderman started trending when in fact this Tom Holland has nothing to do with Spiderman. The tweet was made by a British historian who among his research work boasts of a book tracing the origins of Islam.
However it seems the damage to Spiderman Tom Holland’s reputation as an India-baiter has been. Selling the next Spiderman film in the Spiderman franchise in India may be tougher than it seems.
The British historian Tom Holland was referring to world’s largest stadium in Ahmedabad, the Motera, being renamed to Narendra Modi stadium. On Wednesday, the stadium which was earlier called Sardar Patel Stadium, was inaugurated by President Ram Nath Kovind after a revamp, and it was renamed after the Prime Minister.
