This is no secret Hollywood singer and songwriter Selena Gomez has been through a tough time when she and her now ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber called it quits. Many a time, the Lose You To Love Me singer has opened up about her past and has mentioned how difficult it was for her to go through a tough heartbreak. Now during a recent interview with Billboard, It Ain’t Me singer said that she has often found herself protecting people that never protected me or cared for her. We wonder if she in this interview is hinting at ex Justin Bieber, who’s now happily married to Hailey Baldwin.
She told Billboard, “I’ve said this before, but I used to be terrified of saying anything. I would find myself protecting people that never protected me or cared for me. I wouldn’t want to say the wrong thing, and I wouldn’t want people to think that I had any other motive, other than just being a kind person — though that is who I am and I am proud of that. I was just done, you know? Just done being silent, and I felt like I deserved to have a moment for myself, after going through so much, and throwing that all into this album.” (ALSO READ: Selena Gomez And Ex-Justin Bieber's Wife Hailey End Up Dining At The Same Restaurant - AWKWARD)
Speaking about her song, she revealed that when she wrote the song ‘Lose You to Love Me,’ she was kind of a mess. It was very really difficult for her and by the time the music video was shot at the end of the year, it had a completely different meaning.
She also added that it was extremely bitter and very dry for the star. She had to disconnect her feelings for so long. “But I go to therapy … I felt like, ‘Why do I do this? Why do I give myself away to people, even if it’s just friends or random people? Why do I do that?’ And I realized it is because one of my strengths, that I thought was a weakness, is being vulnerable. I have all these different goals, and I feel like I’m in the happiest place I’ve ever been in my life, and I say that with such conviction. So I think that the possibilities are endless.”
