After Prime Video’s The Boys, HBO’s Watchmen Maybe The Superhero Series Fans Have Been Waiting For!
Based on the immensely popular DC comic series of the same name, Watchmen is HBO’s tribute to the iconic comics. With a host of superhero shows now dotting pretty much every streaming network, what makes Watchmen worth the watch and will fans be disappointed or ecstatic?

Like we saw recently with the film Joker, the superhero world we once knew where there was flying and superpowers is now being replaced by a new world. This world is not devoid of superpowers or magic, but is steeped in reality, in the world we know today. HBO’s Watchmen seems to have done this exceedingly well.

After the disheartening response to HBO’s biggest show, Game of Thrones which premiered for the very last time earlier this year, the network has more than made up for it, it seems. With surprising shows like Succession and Watchmen, they are slowing making their mark again. Watchmen at its very premise is about ordinary people trying to save the world – they wear masks and call themselves vigilantes.

One of the most wonderful things about the show is the cultural relevance it holds to not only modern American politics but the state of affairs all over the world. The setting is 2019, in Tulsa, Oklahoma and white supremacy and racism is a major problem. With brutality and violence being carried out against minorities, a group of individuals rise to the occasion in order to stop the bloodshed.

Of course, there are already comparisons to Zack Snyder’s film of the same name which released in 2009, however it is safe to say that both the adaptations are vastly different.
Only two episodes are out already and we can’t wait to see what else the show has in store for us.

Watchmen is now streaming on Hotstar.
