Shilpa Rao Shares Being Constantly Told Of Having A Different Voice, Hinting At Two Possibilities
Shilpa Rao during the interaction shared the areas she wants to explore in the music arena, her idol and a lot more
The name Shilpa Rao is known in the music industry, she is known for her collaborations with some of the prominent figures from the music world. She has worked with Amit Trivedi, Vishal Dadlani, Anoushka Shankar and more. In an interaction with ETimes, she shared she wants to explore more and work on various projects like Sunidhi Chauhan and Shreya Ghoshal. The singer also feels more than just running the race, she wants to be in a happy space.
In the initial days of her career, she was constantly told she had a different voice. Now the singer shares according to her different voice mean either her voice is not in conjunction as per industry standards or it was another way of telling her, she would make it big one day. But the singer believes in patience and like many others she stood the test of time and climbed up the success ladder. Also, she shared, “Pritam, Vishal-Shekhar, Anoushka Shankar, Amit Trivedi have made a big difference in my life.”
During the interview she shared Tose Naina from the movie, Anwar released in 2007 proved to be a game-changer in her career. The singer feels sometimes one needs to underplay, while sometimes one needs to work hard depending on the output, as she considered a ‘Song’ is a hero.
She marked her Bollywood debut with the song, Javeda Zindagi from the movie, Anwar in 2007. Speaking about her idol, she was quick to take Pakistani ghazal singer and playback singer Mehdi Hassan’s name. When quizzed how she sees herself in the next 10 years, she replies, she wants to be happy. Thus, conveying a message that one should not get disturbed by the competition.
