The acclaimed Tamil director Shankar’s mother Smt. Muthulakshmi passed away at the age of 88 years in Chennai. The cause of death is age-related issues. Kollywood mourns and posts condolences on social media. Ramesh Bala, Arun Vijay, and others mourn the sad demise of Shankar’s mother.

Entertainment enthusiast Ramesh Bala tweeted saying, "Director #Shankar's mother S #Muthulakshmi age 88 passed away today due to age-related illness in Chennai. Condolences to Dir @shankarshanmugh Sir. RIP!"

As per the reliable sources, the last rites will be held on today. Presently, the time is very difficult for Kollywood as a number of prominent artists and their family members have fallen prey to the pandemic. Director Shankar Shanmugam made his Bollywood debut by directing the blockbuster movie, Nayak. Recently he announced the collaboration with actor Ram Charan. The untitled multi-lingual film direct by him and produced by Dil Raju and Shirish Garuand. He will also be directing a film starring Ranveer Singh in a leading role.
