Talking about the movie, during the launch, Samantha Akkineni said, "I have done various kinds of roles in my decade-old career. From commercial films to thrillers, I have managed to explore all genres. I've always wished to play a princess and have been waiting for a film like Shaakuntalam all along. I am super excited to be on-board for this project."
Furthermore, the actress said, "At this point in my career, Dil Raju sir and Guna sir have given me my biggest gift of my career. In ten years of being in the film industry, it is today that I getting to play a role, which has been my dream for a very long time." The actress further added that she hopes to give her hundred percent to the project. For the uninitiated, Shaakuntalam is directed by Gunasekhar and it also stars Dev Mohan. The movie is based on Kalidasa's epic Sanskrit play Abhijnana Shakuntalam.
