Creative honcho, actor and producer Sandiip Sikcand has become a name synonymous with unconventional and fresh content on the small screen. With interesting storytelling, Sandiip has dabbled into Tollywood with an already successful show with a good run time and another one in the making which revolves around the interpersonal transgender relationships.
Helming his production house not very long ago, Sandiip has already produced hit shows like Dhhai Kilo Prem, Kahaan Hum Kahaan Tum and a tell all talk show hosted by Rajiv Khandelwal Juzzbaat. Sandiip's new show Mehndi Hai Rachne Waali went on air last month and saw two fresh faces, south actor Sai Ketan and Shivangi Khedkar. Talking about his protagonists, Sandiip shares, 'Casting depends upon the kind of character you need. For Dhhai Kilo Prem it was really difficult to get a plus sized girl. It was my good luck that I bumped into someone like Anjali who did such a fabulous job. When you see Kahaan Hum Kahaan Tum, the protagonists... they were established actors. But also we introduced many new faces too. In Mehndi Hai Rachne Wali, both are new because I feel bringing new faces & new talent to television, is a service you're doing to the fraternity.' With a strong foothold in the industry for over last two decades, a producer can get any experienced talent on board which also brings in the fan following, but Sandiip shares his vision to work with new faces, 'There are a lot of good actors out there who probably don't make it because they are hidden. If I can find these people and give them an opportunity; it will be fantastic because it is also easier to work with newcomers. They come to you with a clean slate. You can really mould them the way you want. They understand characters better. Having said that Sai Ketan is not a brand new actor as he's done work down south so this will be his Hindi debut. I love to cast newcomers and give them an opportunity to prove themselves," says Sandiip.
