South superstar Thalapathy Vijay has officially revealed the name of his political party as 'Tamilaga Vetri Kazham' (TVK). In a statement, the Mersal star clarified that the party won't be contesting the 2024 elections, and there are no plans to align with any existing political party. This decision was made during a General and Executive Council Meeting. Posting on X, the 49-year old shared a statement with the hashtag #TVKVijay. The statement highlighted the efforts of the Vijay Makkal Iyakkam in carrying out various public welfare activities over the years. The tweet read,"A lot of political changes cannot be made only through a non-profit organisation, a political power is needed. You all know the current political scenario. Wrongful administration and corrupt politics is on one hand, on the other hand discriminative and fascist politics to divide our people. According to the statement, the newly formed party will not participate in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The party plans to unveil its symbol, flag, articulate ideologies, establish policies, and engage with the public after the general elections. Speaking about his entry in politics, the Master star said, "I have one more film that I have signed. I will finish it and completely indulge myself into politics. I have been preparing myself for my political journey for a long time. I will devote myself for the people of Tamil Nadu. This is the only way I can give back to my people."
On the work front, Thalapathy Vijay was last seen in blockbuster hit Leo. He will be next seen in the film titled The Greatest of All Time.
