Narappa, a Telugu remake of Asuran starring Venkatesh Daggubati gets postponed due to rising COVID-19 cases. The makers released an official statement this morning.

As the Covid cases in India rising Srikanth Addala directorial Narappa starring Venkatesh Daggubati and Priyamani in lead roles have postponed their release date. The film was scheduled to release on May 14 in theaters but the increasing Covid numbers forced the makers to change the date. They are yet to release a statement regarding the new release date; perhaps they will after the conditions cool down a bit. Narappa is the Telugu remake of the Tamil film Asuran, starring Dhanush, a box office hit in 2019, and is also one of the most anticipated films of the year.

While the fans were eagerly waiting to see their star on the big screen, this news comes as a big disappointment to them. The actor too shared his disappointment and with a heavy heart, he said, "Narappa is a film that we have made with a lot of dedication and hard work and your love towards the film has been overwhelming. However, we are all going through a turbulent time during this unprecedented global pandemic, and hence, keeping in mind the health and safety of our beloved audience; the theatrical release of the film has been postponed."

Venkatesh Daggubati also took his Twitter handle to announce the maker's decision to postpone the film, wrote “In lieu of the pandemic, #Narappa will not be releasing on May 14th. A new theatrical date will be announced once we overcome this unprecedented crisis. Stay safe!  #NarappaPostponed #Priyamani @KarthikRathnam3 #SrikanthAddala #ManiSharma @SureshProdns @theVcreations. On the other side films like Acharya, Love Story, Tuck Jagadish, and Virata Parvam have also been postponed keeping the outbreak of Covid-19 in mind.


Meanwhile, films like Acharya, Tuck Jagadish, Love Story, Mohanlal’s Marakkar Lion of the Arabian Sea too have postponed their release date. Konidela Production Company releases a piece of official news stating, "Keeping in view of the pandemic situation, #Acharya movie will not be releasing on May 13. A new release date will be announced once the situation becomes normal. Wear a mask, Stay home & stay safe! #AcharyaPostponed


Narappa is an upcoming action drama based on Poomani’s novel, Vekkai. It also features Prakash Raj, Murali Sharma, and Sampath Raj in interesting roles. Music is scored by Mani Sharma, screenplay by Srikanth Addala, Vetrimaaran, and is produced by Kalaippuli S Thanu and D. Suresh Babu.
