Salaar featuring mass superstar Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, and Jagapathi Babu in pivotal roles, has emerged as the top-grossing opener of 2023, outshining Pathaan, Jawaan, and Animal at the box office. Salaar: Part 1: Ceasefire has set a new benchmark, breaking multiple box office records since its release. The major chunk of Salaar's earnings came from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, clocking in at Rs 70 crore. It maintained a high occupancy rate of 88.93% in Telugu regions. Additionally, the film performed commendably in Karnataka and Kerala, securing box office collections of Rs 12 crore and Rs 5 crore, respectively, on its first day. Starring Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, and Jagapathi Babu in pivotal roles, the high-octane actioner is directed by KGF fame Prashanth Neel and produced by Vijay Kiragandur, clocks in at a runtime of 2 hours and 55 minutes. The film received an 'A' certificate from the censor board due to its inclusion of multiple bloody combat sequences, violent depictions, and intense battle scenes. Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan earned Rs 57 crore on its first day in India while Jawan raked in Rs 75 crore, Ranbir Kapoor's Animal also minted Rs 63 crore but now Telugu superstar Prabhas makes a much-needed comeback with Salaar that stands on Rs 95 crore on day one and a staggering Rs 178 crore worldwide. 


On the other hand, Shah Rukh Khan's Dunki released a day ago did a box office business of Rs 50 crore in 2 days. Prabhas' Salaar is getting rave reviews from the audiences. The craze is such that Prashanth Neel's film has got 5 am shows in many cities. It will be interesting to see what will be the opening weekend numbers of both films.
