Shalin Bhanot became the talk of the town after he requested that Bigg Boss let him eat chicken every day due to his illness. According to him, he has to consume 250–300 gms of protein daily to keep himself healthy. He has had fights about the same with the other contestants in the house. His request has come back to bite him in the rear due to his recent feud with contestant Gautam Vig.

During a captaincy task, contestants were asked to name three contestants they didn’t want as the captain of the house. Shalin took Gautam, Priyanka Chahar Choudhary and Soundarya Sharma's names. He justified his decision to take Gautam’s name by saying that Gautam is weak. He proceeded to call him Janani, Auraat and Kamzor. Therefore, implying that women are weaker sex. While, he didn’t receive flak from the housemates for his comment, ex-Bigg Boss contestants Urvashi Dholakia, Kushal Tandon and Gauahar Khan expressed their disgust over the same.
