Gulki Joshi On A Recent Shoot Experience: 'Being In Periods Doesn't Mean You Are Untouchable'- EXCLUSIVE
Gulki Joshi, who is currently seen playing the role of Haseena Malik in the Sony Sab show Maddam Sir,  shares a story of a recent village visit. She said "Recently, I visited a village in Bhor for some shoot of my new project. I thought of visiting the local people there. But when I went there I was aghast to some facts while I interacted with them. I was just asking about their living habits, culture, and some festivals when I observed something and I was shaken by what I saw. I saw a young woman of around 21 years was being shouted at by her mother at the top of her voice. She was saying stuff like "It is unholy and you can do it" and I was there so I just asked them about the matter."

The actress further elaborated, "She told me that her child was in her periods and she entered the temple. So, I asked what's the big deal in that. To which her mother replied, ''Its unholy for a girl to enter temple and further she told me a list of things which the girl is not allowed to do while in her periods- She cannot enter the kitchen, She cannot touch the plates in which the other family members eat, she has to sleep on the floor and so on. I was still in shock that after so much of advancement in knowledge and science, people still follow these practices. I tried changing their mind about it but in vain." Lastly, she puts in her view on this treatment of girls who're having periods and said, "A woman is the one who gets another life in this world and periods are the reason for which it happens. I don't think that it in any way disrespects any god, temple or anyone else. If we say that God created the world then he created it through a woman. Because she gets periods and that's how a baby comes into the world. And it's just really pathetic to see such things. Why a girl in her periods be treated as untouchable. So, I believe that we should spread awareness about this issue and break this old belief and ensure that it shouldn't happen anywhere as it's injustice to any girl."
