Indian Idol 12: Abhijeet Sawant Defends Contestants; Reacts To Amit Kumar’s Criticism: ‘It’s Not Right To Speak After The Episode Has Aired’
Of late, Indian Idol 12 has been hitting the headlines for the wrong reasons. It so happened that a few days ago, Kishore Kumar’s son Amit Kumar had appeared as a guest on Indian Idol 12, as they were celebrating Kishore Kumar’s 100 songs. After the episode aired, in an interview with ETimes, Amit Kumar said that he didn’t enjoy the special tribute episode at all, and also claimed that the makers had asked him to praise the contestants no matter how they sang. Now, Abhijeet Sawant has come to the defense of the contestants, and has reacted to Amit Kumar’s claims.

While speaking to ETimes, Abhijeet Sawant said that Amit Kumar should have voiced his concerns to the makers earlier, rather than criticize it after the episode has aired. He said that had Amit Kumar mentioned to the makers of the creative team once about what he was feeling, they would have definitely listened to him. “He is such a renowned singer of our country and he is in that position where he can communicate to the makers what he is feeling. I don’t think it is right to speak after the episode has aired,” said Abhijeet.

He also defended the Indian Idol 12 contestants, who have been facing flak of late on social media. He said that the audience must understand that Kishore Kumar was a legendary singer and that newcomers cannot match his talent. “These kids are talented and they are doing a fabulous job but it’s not right for a beginner to be a legendary singer. They have just started their careers. It is unfair to make such comments and ridicule them,” he said.

Earlier, in an interview, Abhijeet Sawant had criticized the makers of Indian idol 12 for focussing on the contestants’ tragic stories, more than their singing talent. Read more about it here.
