After Karan Oberoi was discharged from Taloja Jail, the actor's accuser surrenders her phone and the lawyer
SpotboyE.com was the first one to report that actor Karan Oberoi has returned home from jail. Not only that, his lawyer confirmed it to us saying he has moved into his new home. As his family members were rejoicing with him coming back home, on the other hand, it is reported that the actor's rape accuser has now surrendered two cellphones to Oshiwara police on Monday, three days after the Bombay high court granted him bail. With that, the lawyer questions for delay.
Questioning the delayed police action, Oberoi's lawyer, Dinesh Tiwari, said to ETimes, "It is extremely surprising how police probed without seizing her phones, despite a strong reprimand from HC on June 7 during Oberoi's bail hearing. They allowed three days to pass before seizing the phones. Every passing moment leaves the possibility for (the woman) to destroy data (on her phones)."
Tiwari further added, "In fact, right from the beginning, we have been asking police by way of legal notices and applications filed in court to take charge of the mobile phones of the complainant, which they did not do for reasons best known to them."
During Oberoi's bail hearing, the HC asked the investigating officer of the Oshiwara police station why no action had been taken against the woman for "staging her own attack". "The woman hasn't yet been arrested in the self-attack case as we are following the legal process. Action will be taken in the next few days," said a senior police officer.
The singer-turned-actor who was accused of rape and extortion by a female astrologer received bail from the Bombay High Court, yesterday. Karan had been in judicial custody for over a month now. The paperwork had been done yesterday. The family tried rushing to Taloja to submit the papers but could not manage everything before 5 pm, hence the actor was let off only today.
