Meet Hemwant Tiwari – The Man Who Has Bagged A Major Role In International TV Show

Gurgaon-based actor Hemwant Tiwari is on cloud nine. Reason? He has bagged a significant role in an international sci-fi series Medinah.

Hemwant plays an Indian immigrant in the show which is set and shot in Qatar. His character is one of the leads and he will rub shoulders alongside known international stars like Natasha Henstridge and Oscar nominee Eric Roberts.

Medinah revolves around people who find themselves trapped in a desert after a road accident. Hemwant told Delhi Times, "After Priyanka Chopra, I think I'm the first Indian actor to play lead in a major international TV show. Others have done roles in international shows but not as one of the main protagonists, unless I'm missing out on some name. So, I feel it's a great achievement personally."

As a newbie, did he feel intimidated while shooting with well-known international stars? "Eric and Natasha are so grounded and down to earth that I never felt I was acting alongside such accomplished and successful actors. On the set, we were all like a family. They never made me feel that I'm just a newcomer and they are stars," he said.

The show was premiered recently at the San Diego Comic Con, and that was a dream come true, says Hemwant. "I had always been a comic book and pop culture fan growing up. My brother had a huge collection of comics and we would read them all summer. I used to hear about Comic Cons in the west and was always curious about them. I never went to the Delhi Comic Con because I didn't want to spend money on the entry ticket. And now, the premier of my first show happened at the biggest comic con in the world," the proud youngster signed off.
