The Union Health Ministry officials clarified on Wednesday that Poonam Pandey is not being considered as the brand ambassador for the government's national campaign to raise awareness about cervical cancer. This clarification follows earlier reports that Pandey was likely to be the face of the campaign, with discussions taking place between her team and ministry officials. The controversy surrounding her began earlier this month when news of her "death" from cervical cancer, later revealed as a fake stunt for awareness, sparked widespread discussion and debate on social media. In a video posted on her official Instagram page on February 3, the Lock Upp actress shared a significant message, stating, "I feel compelled to share something significant with you all – I am here, alive." The controversial public figure even highlighted the preventable nature of cervical cancer, citing the importance of the HPV vaccine and early detection tests. She urged the importance of ensuring that no one loses their life to this disease, emphasizing the means available for prevention and early intervention. After this rukus, the govt had to clarify that she isn't associated with the institution's Cervical Cancer campaign by any means.




Earlier, In her interim budget speech, Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that the government will actively promote the vaccination of girls in the age group of 9-14 years to prevent cervical cancer.
