Saath Nibhana Saathiya 2: Actress Sneha Jain Recalls An Incident When A South Casting Director Asked Her To Compromise For A Film
Saath Nibhana Saathiya 2 actress Sneha Jain revealed a South casting director once asked her to compromise to bag a film
Currently entertaining the TV audience as Gehna in the popular TV show, Saath Nibhana Saathiya 2, actress Sneha Jain has come a long way. The actress who faced rejections due to her height in the initial days has carved a niche for herself in the industry. In an interview with ETimes TV, she opened up how there was immense pressure when it came to Saath Nibhana Saathiya 2 also creating a benchmark like its first season.
She also shared how she has once faced the casting couch in her career, when she was asked to compromise to land a role in a film. The actress recalls an incident when she got a call from a South casting director offering her a film based on college-going students. She sent them her photograph, followed by getting a call. He asked her to travel to Hyderabad and put one condition that she will have to compromise, this left her shocked.
Sneha narrates, “As far as casting couch is concerned, I don’t remember which year exactly it was. But I think it was somewhere around my graduation period. Once I got a call from a South’s casting director, he offered me a film which was about college-going students. He told me that there will be three couples and they all have equally important roles in the films. I sent them my profile and photographs and the next day I got a call from him saying that I will have to travel to Hyderabad to meet the director and the producer. I agreed to travel but I asked him to give me the details of the film like about the storyline banner, producers and the director. I informed him that I would travel with my mother. Then he told me that there is one condition that I have to compromise with him. I was shocked.”
She further adds the casting person, had her entire day’s itinerary asking her to spend the entire day with the director. Followed by mentioning the pattern in which she will be paid for the movie. Sneha continues, “He told me that the day I reach Hyderabad, I will be given hotel details where I will meet the director and after I sign the contract papers, he will give me half the amount then and there for which I will be signed. Sneha told him his approach is incorrect and she would not want to be part of such project. While person kept on telling her that such things are very normal, “I was shocked and told him straight away that this is wrong and I cannot be a part of such a project. He started telling me how it is not a big deal and everyone does it. I told him I don’t want to be famous and bag through all this, if I want a project I want it on my talent,” said Sneha.
Sneha also received his call a week later, with the actress yelling at him, ordering him not to call her, “He called me after a week again and told me that the deal is still on. I yelled at him and asked him to stop calling me as I don’t want to be a part of such a project,” added the actress.
