Surbhi Tiwari Files FIR Against Her Husband And Mother-In-Law For Domestic Violence, Actress Says, ‘They Wanted To Exploit My Celebrity Status’- Deets Inside
Surbhi Tiwari has filed a complaint against her husband and mother-in-law for domestic violence and says that they wanted to ruin her celebrity status
Television actress Surbhi Tiwari is known for her stint in ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ as Kanchan Rathi. She had filed a complaint against her husband Praveen Kumar Sinha and her in-laws for domestic violence. She is even planning to file a divorce against Delhi-based businessman and pilot Praveen Kumar Sinha after three years of marriage.
Tiwari’s case cropped up late in the month of June. Surbhi filed FIR against her husband and in-laws at Versova police station on June 20, 2022, under sections 498 A and 377 of the IPC for ‘violence and intimidation’, but the police are yet to take action. She also filed a case for domestic violence in the Metropolitan Magistrates Court, Andheri, on May 12, 2022.
Speaking to Etimes, Surbhi told, “They have to arrest them as a case has been filed under section 498 A and 377 of the IPC. The cops are telling me that his mother is a senior citizen and cannot travel to Mumbai but I told them she has travelled by car for elections from Dwarka in Delhi to Bihar, why can't she take a flight and come to Mumbai. I was told that the sisters too cannot come to Mumbai, kyon women hai. I told them I am also a woman and have been coming to the police station to lodge my complaint.”
Interestingly, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii actress further added, “They wanted me to be dependent on them but at the same time exploit my celebrity status”. She also informed that her husband is not ready to sign divorce papers or pay maintenance.
She answered, “They wanted me to join politics as my mother-in-law had failed as a politician and the entire plan was made much in advance.” when quizzed about why her in-laws wanted to exploit her acting career.
