Television actress Priya Ahuja Rajda has been on the forefront when it came to discussing her personal experiences of dealing with the makers of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. The show that has ruled the Indian television screens for over 15 years now, has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. While Priya had cemented herself as Rita Reporter in the show, in the latest episode it was seen that the makers introduced a new face for the character. The actress has now expressed her shock at being abruptly replaced after receiving no communication from producer Asit Kumarr Modi for over eight months.
Calling out their unprofessional behaviour, in an interview with ETimes, Priya revealed that she wasn’t aware that she was getting replaced. No one from the entire team reached out to her and told her that she won’t be a part of the show going forward. She added, “I'd messaged Asit bhai on May 5th asking if I am still a part of the show and I did not get any response from them. Later, May 17th, 18th I messaged Sohil Ramani, Asit Bhai again that you guys have been really unprofessional and because of that attitude, I have not heard from you guys since the last 8 months and neither you guys have replied to my messages.” ALSO READ: TMKOC’s Dayaben AKA Disha Vakani To RETURN To The Show During Diwali, After 6 Years? The 38-year-old actress went on to explain that in a last attempt to get them to revert to her, she told them that she won’t be a part of the show going forward. Adding that she still hasn’t received any acknowledgement to her messages, she was shocked to know that they held auditions to cast a new Rita Reporter. “All I got to know was 19th-20th they auditioned for a new Rita Reporter and July 21st they shot with the new Rita,” she said. Heartbroken at being deceived like that, Priya revealed that ever since her husband, director Malav Rajda left the show, they “directly ousted me from TMKOC.” She stated, “They did not contact me for 8 months, is baat ka aur kya matlab nikalu main...They wanted to hear from me that I'm leaving the show, the moment I told them, unko laga isne chodh diya ab isko dikhate hain hum iski jagah.”
Talking about the show, over the years a lot of actors have been replaced and re-casted. Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is currently the longest running comedy show on Indian television.
