Now, after a month of those reports, according to an exclusive interview with the ETimes, the actress has bagged a role in Mann Sundar.

The actress will be seen playing Shivanshi Das’ mother in Mann Sundar. Both of them portray grey-shaded characters in the show. During the interaction, Sharma revealed that getting back to acting after two years and interacting with her co-stars, technicians, and creative teams made her extremely happy. She said, "Day one on the set made me so happy. Watching the creative team, co-actors, technicians, cameras... everything made me feel like I had come back home. I have been missing this so badly."

Talking about her call centre job, Ekta shared that she was unhappy with her job and was about to join another company when Mann Sundar's team called her for the role. She said, "Acting is my first love, and I was not happy working at the call centre. Since I had no choice, I had to join it. After working there for almost a year, I was planning to join another company. I resigned from the call centre in the last week of September and whe I was almost ready to join another company, I got a call from the team of Mann Sundar. Actually I had auditioned for a role and had forgotten about it. When I got the call, I was so happy. Finally, I am doing what I loved the most."

She also opened up about playing the role of a mother to a grown up. She shared that doing roles like a mother, a negative character, don’t bother her much. She shares, "I have done it earlier in Bepanah Pyaar. Even playing a negative role does not bother me. I may not relate to a character, but yes when you portray such a character you should learn what never to do in life and also learn to differentiate between good and bad."

Talking about her character arch, Ekta says that her character is introduced so that she can get her daughter Anchal married to the hero and make his wife leave their house. She will be seen planning and plotting with her daughter to make the lead couple’s life difficult.
