Kapil Sharma Fails To Regain Lost Glory Without Sunil Grover & Co.

Your weekly dope on the ongoing TV shows. The Kapil Sharma Show continues to disappoint as far as viewership is concerned. Evidently the audience misses the beloved cast of Sunil Grover, Chandan Prabhakar, Ali Asgar and Sugandha Mishra

In Week 12 (March 17-23), Sony was in for a shock as The Kapil Sharma Show was relegated to the bottom of Top 10. To salvage the situation, the makers roped in stand-up comedians Ehsaan Qureshi, Sunil Pal and Raju Srivastav for an episode, hoping that their comic timing, coupled with Kapil’s witty comebacks might help the show climb the ladder. However, in vain.

In Week 13 (March 24-30), The Kapil Sharma Show disappointed yet again and acquired the 9th position. While March 25 episode had Manoj Bajpayee and Taapsee Pannu as guests (they had come to promote Naam Shabana), March 26th’s show had Ehsaan, Sunil and Raju.

We had told you that a day after Taapsee-Manoj episode was put up on YouTube, the number of dislikes exceeded the number of likes by 100 %. Clearly, the audience didn’t approve of the show without Sunil Grover, Chandan Prabhakar, Ali Asgar and Sugandha Mishra.

Now, take a look at the ratings of the episodes (in average impressions):

March 25: 5,323
March 26: 5,450

This is definitely bad news for Kapil, whose contract is up for renewal.

Talking of bad news, another show which didn’t fare in Week 13 was Star Plus’ Saath Nibhaana Saathiya. The sitcom featuring Devoleena Bhattacharjee and Mohammad Nazim has been ousted from Top 10. It’s probably the first time in months that the show couldn’t feature in the list.

The makers will now have to incorporate twists in the storyline to win fans back.

Furthermore, the rest of the leader board didn’t showcase a striking change. While Naagin 2, Kumkum Bhagya, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Shani were the Top 4 shows, Shakti- Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki moved a notch up and was the 5th most watched show.

Zee TV show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa continued to perform well and stood at the 7th spot. Considering that the exam time in most schools is over, we wouldn’t be surprised if the show makes its way into the Top 5 next week.
