Case Against Rapper Badshah In Punjab For Allegedly Hurting Religious Sentiments In New Song
Rapper Badshah, whose real name is Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia, has been booked in Punjab for allegedly using the church Bible in an objectionable manner in his latest song "Velvet Flow." The complaint centers around a scene in the music video where the Bible appears to be misused or misrepresented, leading to backlash and legal action. Authorities have registered a case against him under sections related to hurting religious sentiments.

This incident comes on the heels of another controversy involving his song "Sanak," which sparked public outrage for referencing Lord Shiva in a song that contains explicit lyrics. In response to that backlash, Badshah issued a public apology. “It has been brought to my attention that one of my recent releases, Sanak, sadly seems to have hurt the sentiments of some people. I would never willingly or unknowingly cause offense to anyone's sentiments,” he said.

Taking accountability, Badshah added, “In light of this recent development, I have taken proactive measures to change some parts of the song and actioned the replacement with this new version on all digital platforms to further avoid hurting anyone.” He further noted that the replacement would take a few days to reflect and urged people to be patient. Concluding his statement, he said, “My sincerest apologies to those whom I may have unknowingly hurt. You have always been my bedrock.”

The controversy surrounding "Sanak" was amplified by a senior priest from the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, who objected to the use of the deity’s name in conjunction with vulgar lyrics and demanded the name be removed. The priest also announced intentions to file an FIR.

Badshah has not yet commented publicly on the "Velvet Flow" controversy.
