Ex-Pakistani Cricketer Abdur Rehman Robbed By Armed Burglars Outside His Home In Johar Town, Netizens Say 'Just A Normal Day In Pakistan'
On Thursday, January 18, former Pakistani cricketer Abdur Rehman fell victim to an armed robbery outside his residence in Johar Town. The incident unfolded as Rehman was returning home after shopping in a nearby market. Following the ordeal, the cricketer filed a handwritten complaint, attributing the robbery to two unidentified assailants.

According to Rehman's account in the complaint, the incident occurred around 5:30 pm when he and his family were returning from the market. Two individuals on a motorcycle approached them outside their house, brandishing a pistol. The robbers threatened violence, holding Rehman's daughter at gunpoint, and demanded his belongings.

During the robbery, the assailants seized $1,000, Rs 25,000 in cash, an ATM card, and an identity card from Abdur Rehman before making their escape. The complaint filed by Rehman did not specify whether any of his family members sustained injuries during the incident. Netizens reacted to the news with their witty comments. A user wrote, "Yeh Pakistan hai bhai yaha aisa hee chalta." Another one wrote, "Just a normal day in Pakistan."

In his complaint, the ex-cricketer provided a detailed account of the two robbers, estimating their age to be between 28-30 years old. One of them had a brown beard, while the other was clean-shaven, donning a blue-coloured jacket. The perpetrators utilized a Honda 125 motorcycle for their escape, as reported by the former cricketer. The current status regarding the registration of a case based on Rehman's complaint or any arrests made in connection with the theft remains unknown.

Abdur Rehman, recognized for his proficiency as a slow left-arm orthodox bowler and left-handed batsman, represented Pakistan across all formats of cricket. His journey began in domestic cricket, and he subsequently made his ODI debut in 2006, followed by Test and T20I debuts in 2007. However, in 2012, Rehman faced a setback when he received a 12-week ban from the ECB for testing positive for the drug cannabis.
