As the petition had been filed by advocate M.L Sharma, the advocate refused to stick to the seating arrangement inside the courtroom. While the proceeding was conducted under a five-judge bench headed by Justice N.V. Ramana and also including Justices S.K. Kaul, R. Subhash Reddy, B.R. Gavai and Surya Kant, the Justice’s constantly insisted Sharma allow other counsels to come forward, to which he disagreed. In the argument about chairs and seating arrangements in the courtroom, Attorney General K.K. Venugopal mentioned that the situation was turning out to be something like the popular TV series Game of Thrones.

Meanwhile, later as Venugopal explained that more than half and an hour was wasted on the seating arrangement, Justice Ramana asked to start the hearing. The hearing finally began after the judges convinced some lawyers in the courtroom to give space to the seniors' advocates who were to argue first.
