Mahendra Singh Dhoni, also known as MS Dhoni- former Indian cricket team skipper turned a year older today, on June 7. The former Indian international cricketer captained the Indian national team from 2007 to 2017. Known as Captain Cool, MS Dhoni also captained the Indian national team in Test cricket from 2008 to 2014. Under his captaincy, India won many trophies, including the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup, 2007 ICC World Twenty20, the 2010 and 2016 Asia Cup and much more.
However, one always cherishes their ‘firsts’. Looking back at the glorious day when the ace cricketer made his first century in the game of cricket. As reported by ANI, Mahi registered his first century in international cricket on April 5, 2005. About 16 years ago, the ace cricketer registered the feat against Pakistan. It was during the second ODI of the six-match series. The match was played in Visakhapatnam’s Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium.
During the fourth innings of the match, Dhoni was brought to the middle. He along with Sehwag wreaked havoc on the Pakistan bowlers. Mahi smashed 15 fours and 4 sixes in his innings. The ace cricketer managed to play a knock of 148 runs from 123 balls. His registry took India’s total to 356/9 in the allotted fifty overs. Meanwhile, so far, MS Dhoni has registered a total of 6 centuries in the game of cricket.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni is a “right-handed middle-order batsman and wicket-keeper”. He is one of the highest run-scorers in ODIs with over 10,000 runs scored so far. MS Dhoni is regarded as one of the greatest wicket-keeper batsmen and captains in the history of cricket.
