Following the stupendous success of Lee Jung Jae and Park Hae-Soo starrer ‘Squid Game’, the makers are coming up with its new season. Yes, you read that right! Squid Game 2 is coming up with an interesting storyline, revealed its writer, director, producer, and creator Hwang Dong-hyuk. The second season of the 9 episode game series was announced by Netflix on social media. Notably, Hwang also shared a note teasing fans about the new season and said they will be introduced to Young-hee's boyfriend Cheoul-su.

Announcing Squid Game 2, Netflix shared a post and wrote, “Red light… GREENLIGHT! Squid Game is officially coming back for Season 2.” In another-follow up post, Netflix shared the director's note for the fans. The post read, “It took 12 years to bring the first season of Squid Game to life last year. But it took 12 days for Squid Game to become the most popular Netflix series ever. As the writer, director, and producer of Squid Game, a huge shout out to fans around the world. Thank you for watching and loving our show. And now, Gi-hun returns. The Front Man returns. Season 2 is coming. The man in the suit with ddakji might be back. The announcement left fans quite excited as they took to the comments section of the post to express their excitement and happiness. One fan said, “OMG! I just can't wait for this.” Another said, “Waited for a long, Here Squid Game is back wid New Season.”

The first season of the show was released last year and gained immense love and appreciation from fans. Squid Game tells the story of a mysterious invitation to join the game sent to people at risk who are in dire need of money. 456 participants from all walks of life are locked into a secret location where they play games in order to win 45.6 billion won.
