Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma shared some rather enviable shots of themselves from the Caribbean in the past few days. We wondered if BCCI that has had a strict ‘family clause’ during tournaments in the past had relaxed its terms this time around. And it seems that our suspicions were true after all. According to the latest report in TOI, the players were indeed granted permission to take their families along during the entire duration of the tournament in West Indies.
Citing the reason that the players went through a “stressful period” while the ICC World Cup was on, the BCCI allowed the men in blue to have their families accompany them. It was earlier decided by the BCCI and the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) that the families of the Indian team players could spend only a limited amount of time with them during their work tours. “According to that clause, it was suggested that the families would not be allowed for the first 20 days of a long tour and they could only be with the team for any slot of 21 days,” elaborates the report.
Virat and Anushka have been spending a lot of time with each other during tours. Anushka spent a fair bit of time with Virat during the ICC World Cup in England.
She also accompanied Virat to the States and later to the Caribbean. The two have been rather upfront about the time they spend together, frequently sharing pictures on social media.
Speaking about the same, a BCCI official told TOI, “He doesn't bend the regulations set for the team. And anyway, his wife had her own itinerary for the trip."
