When Irfan Pathan’s Wife Safa Mirza Defended The Cricketer After He Was TROLLED And Criticised For Blurring Her Pictures: ‘It Was My Decision’
Irfan Pathan is one of the most loved and celebrated Indian cricketers. In his illustrious career spanning more than 16 years, Irfan has contributed to bringing in a number of trophies, awards, and other accolades back home. As we speak of his achievements, there was a time when Pathan received a severe backlash for sharing blur pictures of his wife Safa Mirza Baig. Back then Safa came out in support of Irfan and defended him saying it was her decision.

In an earlier interview with The Times Of India, Safa revealed it was her decision to blur her photos as she is a very private person. She was quoted saying, “I had created an Instagram account for Imran and I post stuff there, so that he can look back at some lovely memories once he grows up. I handle this account and for this particular photograph, I had blurred my face out of choice.”  Safa added, “It was completely my decision and Irfan had absolutely nothing to do with it. I never thought that posting a harmless family photograph would create a needless controversy like this. I am a very private person and I never like to be the centre of attraction. Even when Irfan gets papped, I immediately move away.”

Safa Mirza, who was a professional model and a content writer before her marriage, also dismissed the rumours of Irfan Pathan being an oppressive husband. For the unversed, the couple got married in a grand ceremony on February 4, 2016, and welcomed their first child, a baby boy Imran in 2018. Safa and Irfan were blessed with their second boy, Suleiman in 2021.
