Salman Khan Approached By Maharashtra Government To Raise Awareness On Covid-19 Vaccination

Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar on Wednesday expressed concerns over "religious apprehensions among Muslims" on the Covid-19 vaccination.

Maharashtra Government is in talks with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan to raise awareness amongst Muslims on the Covid-19 vaccination. 

"In order to get more people vaccinated, we will be getting religious leaders, celebrities to create awareness on vaccination. We are also in talks to bring onboard celebrities like Salman Khan for the awareness drive," Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said while speaking to ANI.

The recent report comes as Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar on Wednesday expressed concerns over "religious apprehensions among Muslims" on COVID-19 vaccination. 

"Whenever vaccination happened there were religious apprehensions in Muslims, which delayed it slightly. Hoping that Muslims will take jabs and actors like Salman Khan should encourage them," said Mumbai Mayor on the issue of the Muslim community not in favour of getting vaccinated against COVID-19, as quoted by NDTV.

If we are to go by the reports, as many as 10,41,16,963 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in Maharashtra, wherein 6,98,15,228 people were administered the first dose of the vaccine, as per the data of the Union Health Ministry.

Meanwhile, more than 113.68 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far in the country under the nationwide inoculation drive.

Currently, Salman Khan is waiting for the release of his movie, Antim: The Final Truth helmed by Mahesh Manjrekar and stars brother-in-law Aayush Sharma alongside him. It is a remake of the Marathi film Mulshi Pattern. 

Besides this, the actor has Kick 2, Tiger 3, Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali and a special appearance in Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathan. He is currently seen hosting a controversial TV reality show, Bigg Boss 15.
