Shahid Kapoor's brother, Ishaan Khatter’s debut film, Beyond The Clouds, also starring Malavika Mohanan, hit silver screens on April 20.
Day 1 for the film unfortunately and shockingly had a not so happy number attached to it as it could collect only Rs 25 lakh at the box-office. On Day 2 too the film failed to get in crowds. The project managed to make only Rs 40 lakh (approximately), a mere Rs 15 lakh more than Friday. The total collections of the film stand at Rs 65 lakh (till now).
Majid Majidi’s film could have garnered a better response but despite rave reviews ad excellent performances, public did not throng theatres. The nature of the film is not all out commercial and somewhere has an ‘arty’ feel to it, this could be one of the reasons that it failed in attracting maximum crowd.
SpotboyE Editor, Vickey Lalwani, rated the film 3.5 stars and highly praised Ishaan and Malavika's performance. He wrote, "It's time to celebrate. We have two new volcanoes of talent in Bollywood- Ishan Khatter and Malavika Mohanan. Shahid Kapoor's brother has burst on the scene giving you only one impression: You better not write a simple scene with him, it will be a criminal waste of resources. Shahid Kapoor, Neelima Azim and Rajesh Khatter- party kab hai? Malavika Mohanan reminds you a lot of Deepika Padukone (interestingly, Deepika had auditioned for the same role) and is out to give run for the money to her counterparts. They have had a dream start and now they must capitalise, err, the filmmakers must capitalise and knock their doors. Watch Ishaan erupt when he returns home after seeing Malavika almost losing her sanity behind bars, watch Malavika break down in her opening scene when she tells Ishaan of her plight."
We hope the collections pick up today, so far it has been terribly disappointing.
