"Akshay Kumar Lied About Not Visiting Canada In The Last 7 Years": Netizen Produces Proof Of His 2014 Toronto Visit
Looks like, Akshay Kumar’s ongoing citizenship controversy is not going to die anytime soon. It all started when the Kesari actor skipped casting his vote during the Lok Sabha Elections which took place in Mumbai on April 29. When Akshay was questioned about the same by a reporter at a film's screening, the actor dodged the question by telling the journalist, "Chaliye Beta" which added fuel to fire and netizens circulated the video slamming Kumar. Following which, the actor issued a statement, defending himself, where he claimed although he has never denied holding a Canadian passport, it is equally ture that he hasn’t visit Canada since past 7 years.

But now a Twitter user has proven Akshay's claims false as he has dug up an old tweet of Kumar partying with Mika Singh, Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra in Toronto in 2014. The user has accused the actor of lying, while he posts the screengrabs of these tweets. One of these grabs sees singer Mika’s tweet, which reads, “Gm. Had a wonderful party with @akshaykumar @TheRajKundra @TheShilpaShetty, rahulkhanna #KishorLula in toronto....." While the other two grabs of the Kesari by the user claim that the actor was in Toronto dated March 12 and 10, 2014 at Ritz Carlton Hotel for Tina Vrimani's wedding sangeet.

This tweet comes days after an old clip of Khiladi Kumar saying, "Toronto is my home" went viral. In the video, the Gabbar Is Back actor was heard saying, “I must tell you one thing, 'This is my home. Toronto is my home.' After I retire from this industry, I'm going to come back here and stay here."

For those who've come in late, Akshay's clarification statement  on his citizenship read, "I really don't understand the unwarranted interest and negativity about my citizenship. I have never hidden or denied that I hold a Canadian passport. It is also equally true that I have not visited Canada in the last seven years. I work in India, and pay all my taxes in India. While all these years, I have never needed to prove my love for India to anyone, I find it disappointing that my citizenship issue is constantly dragged into needless controversy, a matter that is personal, legal, non-political, and of no consequence to others. Lastly, I would like to continue contributing in my small way to the causes that I believe in and make India stronger and stronger."
